Faficho Bombe is an outstanding coffee produced by local growers on the Bombe coffee plantation in the town of Faficho, Ethiopia. The Faficho Bombe station is located at an incredible altitude of 2,100 to 2,200masl. The rich clay soil, combined with traditional farming practices and the high-altitude climate, creates ideal conditions for growing high-quality coffees recognized for their high-quality floral notes and vibrant acidity.
Since 2013/2014, Ethio Catalyst has worked closely with local producers to preserve and improve traditional drying and picking methods. Cherries are sorted by floatation; the low-density floating cherries are removed, and the high-density cherries remain. For this specific white honey lot, the cherries' external skin is removed while ensuring enough mucilage (the sugary and sticky part that gives a soft and aromatic profile) remains. The beans are then dried on a raised bed until they reach an optimal humidity level. Once dried, they are shipped to Addis Ababa for bagging and prepared for exportation.
This coffee is exceptionally good as pourover, yielding candied lemon, blueberry and floral notes. Its fruitiness and floral notes make it a vibrant espresso drink!
